Description

In July 1990 Mohawk Warriors and their supporters began an blockade to stop a group of developers from expanding a golf course onto a piece of land referred to as “The Pines”, a sacred burial ground in Kanehsatà:ke. The resistance expanded to Akwesasne and Kahnawake and then across the country, which lasted throughout the summer. The confrontation with Canada’s Armed Forces and Sûrté du Québec were at times violent. CKUT programmers were embedded behind the barricades and provided regular reports.
