Friday 3rd May 2019 I interviewed four students from Kirrawee High School, protesting at a School Strike for Climate rally outside Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison's electorate office in Cronulla, in south east Sydney.
The Liberal - National Party coalition that currently governs Australia has in the recent past denied climate change science. Scott Morrison himself infamously brought into parliament's lower house a piece of coal, saying loudly “Don’t be afraid, don’t be scared, it won’t hurt you. It’s coal." His government currently promotes coal-fired power stations and using government funds to build them. Morrison's government has approved at the federal level Adani Group's proposed Carmichael Mine in Queensland. If granted full approval it'll become one of the world's largest-ever coal mines.
