biography:
Gumflowr are an Electronic Dance-duo who met whilst studying Sonic Arts at Goldsmiths
University. Initially a studio-based project, the two producers (Lorenzo & Mat) began translating
their recorded tracks into a performance that borrows from DJ and live music culture. Their
sound centers around saturated drums, looped electronics, and arpeggiated sequences against
live lead vocals and sampled acapellas. Their journey started at the end of 2022 when they
released a cover of the Beatles classic ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’, reinterpreting the track with a
heavy dub production. 2023 will see the band release their first EP, beginning with a Sea of
Change on 24th March.
The first lead single ‘A Sea of Change’ fully paints Gumflowr’s sonic brand of extravagant
production, with roots in Disco and Kraut influenced Electronic music. Lyrically, the song subtly
unveils the first steps involved in gender exploration, and how an individual navigates these
early stages.The track is self-released on the 24th March 2023.
