Jesus Christ said, "I am the WAY". The early converts to accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour were spoken of as following that WAY. That is because the truly converted, spirit begotten have dedicated themselves to living the same life that Christ lived. Christ is the example (to which we all fall short) but nonetheless He preached among other things a way of life.
