Last month, a Dane County judge ruled that Wisconsin’s 1849 feticide law does not apply to consensual abortions. That ruling is being appealed.
In the meantime, state Republicans have introduced a bill that - if passed - would add a referendum to this April’s ballot. The referendum would ask voters if abortions should be banned after 14 weeks instead of 20 weeks, as is current law.
The bill had a public hearing yesterday - and abortion rights activist Kim Gasper-Raybuck was there.
Gasper-Raybuck is a frequent guest here on WORT, and she discussed the Republican bill with News Producer Faye Parks earlier today.
