“Grandparent scams” have been around for years, with scammers posing as troubled grandkids over the phone, asking for money to be wired to their account fast.
For years, those scams had one fatal flaw: the voice claiming to be a grandchild didn’t quite sound like the grandchild in question. But with the rise of AI comes the rise of a new scam, one that is more difficult to determine whether or not your call is a scam.
