Description

On Presidents Day, the 50501 movement called for citizens across the country to protest the current administration by taking their outrage to the streets.

While dangerously low temperatures made the idea of marching to our State's Capital daunting, Madisonsoinans showed up to voice their concern for the current state of our Union.

The crowd was not the record number of protesters who traveled to Madison to demand that then governor Scott Walker face a recall. Then again the weather in 2012 was a tad more forgiving than the sub zero wind chill protesters faced on President’s day this week.

Scott Walker survived the recall. However, time did what it does and moved on. Erica Meier graduated and is now a professor at UW Milwaukee. Professor Theresa Ferris is now at UW Whitewater and Professor Anne Smart Martin is retired and living in Virginia.
In this archival episode of Radio Chipstone, contributor Gianofer (JON nah fer) Fields, now with more gray hair than brown, reminds us of what it means to stand up to power.
