Last Tuesday, Governor Tony Evers filed a lawsuit against Republican state lawmakers - saying a number of their recent policy decisions are unconstitutional. Included in that complaint is the GOP’s decision to block 27 projects that requested funding through the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, which was created in 1989 to preserve Wisconsin’s natural resources.
The Nature Conservancy - or TNC - , a global organization that uses science to promote conservation efforts, registered their support for the Governor’s lawsuit. Alex Madorsky is the Associate Director of Government Relations at TNC’s Wisconsin chapter. He shared some insight on the Stewardship Program and the Governor’s lawsuit with WORT News Producer Faye Parks earlier today.
