Since the start of the pandemic, Wisconsin has received more than $63 billion in relief funding from the federal government. Of that grand total, about $5 billion were undesignated, meaning that Governor Evers has sole discretion over how it’s spent.
But if voters approve the two constitutional amendments on today’s ballot, the power over federal funds would shift from the governor’s office to the Republican-held legislature.
Meanwhile, multimedia news outlet WisPolitics reported today that the Evers administration has yet to spend almost $300 million in undesignated relief funding.
JR Ross, editor of WisPolitics, tells WORT News Producer Faye Parks that Governor Evers hasn’t signaled where that money is headed - or how he’ll respond if voters approve the amendments on today’s ballot.
