June 25th is the anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War, when some seventy-five thousand North Korean People’s Army soldiers poured across the 38th parallel, the border between the newly divided Koreas. The year was 1950. The war was relatively short, but particularly brutal. Over five million people died, more than half of them civilians.
