Yesterday, Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources approved a mining company’s exploratory drilling plan. The proposed site is just upriver from the Boundary Waters and, with that approval, operations can begin as soon as the company has obtained the necessary permits.
Activists, though, stand opposed to the Minnesota DNR’s decision, and say the environmental impact would be severe.
