November 25th, is the anniversary of the start of the successful French general strike against welfare and pension “reforms” of 1995. The strike enjoyed popular support and involved hundreds of thousands of workers. It was the largest strike since 1968, after three weeks the government was forced to withdraw the proposal to raise the retirement age from fifty-eight to sixty and reduce pension benefits
