Peterangelo’s report highlighted the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the industry, including significant job losses and reduced wages in 2021. Although job numbers have improved, challenges in hiring and retaining staff persist. Post-pandemic revenue and sales are rising, but higher menu prices, shorter hours, and fewer restaurants indicate ongoing recovery issues.
