Mazo Beach is a small, sandy stretch along the Wisconsin River - north of the city of Mazomanie. For decades, it was a popular spot for nude bathing and a safe space for LGBTQ folks, but it was closed in 2016 after conservative outcry. Now, it’s being used as an example of why the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources needs to amend its rules and restrict all nudity on publicly managed lands.
