A North Carolina political operative who served time in prison for felony conspiracy is still getting work with Republican committees across the country.

Jack Daly made headlines here in Wisconsin with his so-called “Draft PAC,” pitched in 2017 as an attempt to convince a former Milwaukee County sheriff to challenge Senator Tammy Baldwin. Sheriff David Clarke never ended up running – but Daly and a fellow attorney kept raising money anyway.

And after serving time in connection with the scheme, Daly is back to making millions as a political fundraiser.

That’s according to a new report from “News of the United States” or NOTUS, a nonprofit newsroom that covers the U.S. government, politics, and elections. For more, our News Producer Faye Parks sat down with contributing editor Dave Levinthal.
