Following a slew of quality house projects released on Afrocentric Records from artists such as Vanco, Gino Brown, and SkyWhite, Candy Man is the next producer to commandeer the decks and deliver four Afro house bangers. Throughout this brand-new EP, Candy Man bounces between organic and synthetic, folk and industrial, throwback and futuristic; the distinct styles between tracks lends variation to the extended play over its 28-minute runtime.

Kicking off with the EP highlight "TECHNOKRAT" jumps into future techno and progressive electronic territory, analog synthesizers developing alongside quasi-industrial/glitch textures into gorgeous piano-driven passages.

"Wolves" takes this in a simpler direction by taking a slightly stripped-back approach. As the EP progresses, the instrumentals become increasingly electronic in composition and sound.

This is exemplified in the second track's ("Stjambok") structure, as the subtle string plucks accent a strong set of FM and subtractive synths.

To round off the ep The Wijo-assisted beat "Obstraction," we are introduced to the more organic side of the record. Reverberating strings and hand percussions lightly envelop a punchy Afrotech drum & 808 pattern.

Candy Man

Candy Man began his career on the dusty streets of Eersterus, Hammanskraal North of Pretoria, where he was introduced into the world of music production and began making music on borrowed computers from 2010. He saved up to build his own setup and got a computer three years later, he releases an afro house banger called Caribbean Dance, the song takes off, then he's chosen as a finalist for a Captain Morgan Remix competition.

Since then he has gone on to work, collaborate and learn from, various talents like house music pioneers Revolution, House Africa, Rabs Vhafuwi and Afro Warriors, to name a few. 2018 he released three projects under well known international labels.
A man realising his dream to make you dance, Candy Man is a rising star to look out for in the House and Afrotech skyline.
