The Baby Snooks Show starring Fanny Brice as Baby Snooks and Harlow Wilcox as "Daddy" Lancelot Higgins aired from 1944-51. But prior to her own show, Baby Snooks appeared as a skit on the Maxwell House Coffee Hour with Don Ameche as the host. I have edited together 5 of these skits into one track with short pauses between each skit. Snooks was not a nasty or mean, spiteful or sadistic kid. She was, at heart, a nice kid. Daddy was harried and desperate and occasionally driven to spanking his impish daughter, but he wasn't ill tempered or unkind with the kid. Brice used a whole range of annoying attitudes... she had a pestering arsenal that could drive parents berserk. When all else failed she would pipe up with her innocent but infuriating, "Why-y-y, Daddy?" Fanny Brice was an ex vaudevillian and in her late 40's when she played Snooks. Her vocal characterization was genius... and funny. Enjoy this 5 plate sampler of her early work as Snooks.
