Boston Blackie was a fictional character created by author Jack Boyle. Before he became a detective, he was a jewel thief and safecracker... he became an "enemy to those who make him an enemy, friend to those who have no friend." Series ran from June 23, 1944 on NBC with Richard Kollmar taking over the role as Blackie in April of 1945. Over 200 episodes were produced, ending in October of 1950. Maurice Tarplin played a scatterbrained Police Inspector named Farraday... who was consistently amazed that Blackie solved mysteries that he could not solve.
