Damon Runyon was an American newspaperman and short-story writer. He was born Oct 4, 1880 and died on Dec. 10, 1946. He spun humorous and sentimental tales of gamblers, hustlers, actors, gangster, many of whom went by strange names... as in this show "Blind Benny"... because his name is Benny and he is blind. This is a sentimental story about Joey and his Pal, "Blind Benny" and a girl named Mary... and the love that both Joey and Blind Benny had for Mary... that almost cost Blind Benny his life at the hands of his pal, Joey... it is a wonderfully crafted and superbly acted radio dramatization of one of Damon Runyon's stories.
