Description

Walter Winchell was an ex-vaudevillian who became one of the most popular newspaper columnist of news and gossip in America from the 1930's to the 1950's. The track begins with a quote about Winchell from "Radio Album Magazine - Spring 1942" that sums up what he did and how he did it. Then the rebroadcast of the Sunday, May 6, 1945 Walter Winchell program is played. Note the use of ticker tape and code machines in the background. In the photo you can see the equipment that made the sounds. The show was the day before Germany surrendered ending World War Two in Europe... May 7, 1945.
