As faculty, we help students navigate difficult topics, some that shift in focus from day to day in a contentious political climate. While as citizens we readily take positions, in the classroom we need to help students unpack the reasons for the positions they hold. In so doing, we must be able to separate an indefensible argument from those which we might be inclined to dismiss because of our political preferences and beliefs. How do we as faculty and students navigate that space?
