Description

"Aluminum Man (Yes He CAN)"> ,,, (FYI, the Aluminum Man is me..read on...) "Aluminum Man" is a Van Halen style riffed out beast of a track. Lot's of classic Van Halen Phase 90 tones here with a rich warm early Brown Sound. The riffing itself is really true to Edward VH style hooks and leads, and obviously this is very intentional on my part. This song will likely be licensed to TV, and will also of course be a lesson at some point in the JFRocks.com website's Van Halen style guitar lessons section.

The title of this song "Aluminum Man (Yes He CAN)" actually refers to ME!! "The Aluminum Man" is what most of my industry friends have dubbed me when referencing my session career here in Hollywood. You see I have weird karma (and I'm not too thrilled with that either) It's like this... I'm RARELY the first choice for projects. It's gotten to the point where I sometimes think my name is "Hey I know who we can get".... NOPE, I'm rarely the out of the gate choice. I'm the dude / kid / guy / songwriter / butt saver that usually gets brought in AFTER the person they originally hired botches the job, quits, or in some cases, (and I'm not kidding) actually vanishes, never to be heard from again.

I've come to terms with this strange Karma of mine over the past few years, sometimes I catch myself wondering what I did in a past life to have ended up a cleaner of sorts for the local music industry here in town. I've actually grown to find it all kind of amusing and predictable, it's actually about 7 out of every 10 gigs / projects will be a call, email, or even a Facebook or Twitter message from someone who needs a song or riff for some project that someone has already botched or abandoned.

With that, my friends have dubbed me "The Aluminum Man" which is always followed by the phrase "Yes He Can" because that's what Zoe J. from my office says on the phone when they call to book me. The "Aluminum" and "Can" references aside from being a play on words refer back to the fact that Aluminum cans are often recycled from other things, i.e. boats, cars, etc., and I usually end up, as I said, on projects that started out as either all together something else, or originally belonged to someone else.
