"Soul Bait" is a Zeppelin kind of influenced Hard Rock guitar instrumental piece. I do tracks for various reasons or end results, this particular one I think my TV management people are going to like. So we'll say it's for TV and if a filmmaker wants it too, well hey, who am I to argue right.. :)
"Soul Bait" is obviously a play on words with "Soulmate", most of my following/fans of http://JFRocks.com know that the titles of my songs tend to reflect various concepts and situations happening in and around my life, and this one is no exception. Although I don't plan to tell the story or situation behind it here in this text, mostly because I like to let the titles as often as possible play out in everyone's mind how ever they see them, as song titles can evoke as much emotion as the music itself, or influence how the music is perceived. But I will say, as "Soul Bait" pertains to my own life right now, it's probably not what you think it is. But then nothing normal ever happens to me anyway. My life tends to play out like a team of network sit-com writers are following me around and deciding what happens next. Each week, there's a new guest star in the life of Jeff. It's a good walk-on role if you can get it, but it doesn't pay much. :)
All that said, this track is built on 2 main musical themes. A Jazz based sideways groove riff, and solid down-beat Jimmy Page inspired guitar hook. The whole thing is cut down the middle with a killer guitar solo for your listening pleasure.
