"Hail Mary" (aka "The Last Hail Mary"), is a seriously moody and tension building Hard Rock guitar instrumental. This track is built on some solid mode changes. I did this on purpose since it was produced for film licensing in particular. This is a moody scene piece to say the least, but there's a lot of power in it as well.
This track's main rhythm guitar sound isn't something you'll be able to reproduce with your regular guitar. I know a lot of you learn my songs, or do your best ot figure out the riffs and tones etc.. So that being said, this track's main rhythm parts were recorded with a specially strung and tuned guitar. Basically it's the top 6 strings on a 12 string. So the tuning is a standard E, A, D, G, B, E. but the pitches of each string are in different octaves to a standard guitar. Again it's 6 string guitar tuned and strung as strings 7 through 12 would be on a 12 string, so just the high strings on the 12 string to put it simply. This gives it a very chime-like and rather unique sound. I've done this on other tracks in the past, but never made this sound my my focus prior to this.
All of the above said... CRANK IT UP!!! The louder the better for this one, it's got a lot of drama happening for sure... enjoy..
