Mark Naftalin & Friends played a musical concert at the Pequot Library, in Southport, CT, A long-time, favorite feature of the Library’s Midwinter Book Sale it was broadcast LIVE on Bridgeport’s WPKN (89.5 FM)

Led by the renowned blues pianist and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Mark Naftalin, the Friends are an ensemble of (mostly) Fairfield County-based blues and jazz musicians. This year’s broadcasts, their fourteenth annual appearance at the Book Sale, will feature:
– singing guitarists Paul Gabriel (of Blue In The Face and the Paul Gabriel Blues Band) and J.D. Seem (of the Blue-Tones);
– singing harmonicists Manny Foglio (of the Mojomatics) and Mark Zaretsky (of the Cobalt Rhythm Kings);
– from Otis & The Hurricanes, guitarist-vocalist Chris “Otis” Cross and pianist-accordionist-vocalist Smokin’ Joe Najmy;
– sax master Crispin Cioe (of the Uptown Horns);
– guitarist-vocalist-harmonicist Daniel J (“The Modern Bluesman”); and
– frottoirist-percussionist-vocalist Peter Menta, a.k.a. Washboard Slim (of Washboard Slim & the Bluelights).
Joining Naftalin in the rhythm section will be:
– bassists David Anastasia and David “Bobo” Lavorgna on upright bass;
– and, on drums and percussion, Matt Moadel and Barry Urich.
