Description

My guest on "Digging in the Dirt" this time is Douglass DeCandia from Katonah, NY. With a degree in Sustainable Agriculture, Doug is the Chapter leader of his local "Bionutrient Food Association" group, who's may concern is how our health is connected to how our food is grown. Doug is currently employed by the Food Bank for Westchester as the Food Growing Program Coordinator, where he teaches and works with youth and adults to grow healthy food that is distributed throughout the county to individuals at-risk of hunger. Their Farm is a collective of 5 sites located around Westchester County. The Food Bank grows food and cares for the gardens using techniques that are life promoting and supportive of our health, and the land's natural tendency toward growth. At the heart of their work together is recognizing that by healing the land we are also are healing ourselves.
