I don't feel like this was a good enough apology, so I wanted to add the following:
I’ve got a history of both saying and doing dumb things in the name of trying to be funny and, for that, I’m really sorry.
I make things in an attempt to make people happy so it really sucks when I end up hurting people. That’s the opposite of my goals. I want my art to be for everybody.
If you have ever been bummed out by something I’ve said or done, I am truly very sorry.
I’m constantly working at being a better artist and a better person. Progression in this work is oftentimes pretty slow, though. I’m trying, though, y’all. I promise you that I am trying.
This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. This comes from looking at the culmination of things I’ve done as both an artist and as a human over the past 31+ years that I’ve tried being funny or whatever. This is my trying to make up for the things done that no longer fit my values.
I’ve done a lot of dumb shit. This is me owning up to it and apologizing for it.
