Description

Any movement starts with you, yes you as an individual. We are change agents of our time and every big movement starts with one small step. On this first-ever live episode, you’ll learn more about how to mobilize and engage others for collective action.

Our guest is Melati Wijsen of Bye Bye Plastic Bags, an organisation founded in Indonesia, and in the meantime a global movement, with 50 teams all over the world, that is working towards a world with no plastic bags. In this episode Melati shares her story and concrete tips for other aspiring change agents. Melati and her sister Isabel Wijsen founded Bye Bye Plastic Bags back in 2013. Together with many supporters and partners, they have been working on the frontline, advocating an official ban on plastic bags in Bali. Last year, the official ban on single-use plastics (plastic bags, straws, and Styrofoam) was enforced by the Balinese government. And what’s more! Melati just launched YOUTHOPIA, a program for equipping youth with tools and skills to become the next generation of changemakers.
