Chicago based DJ and producer Jason Patrick debuts on CZ with the fantastic Spherical. Jason is described as one of the most technical techno DJ's in town. He has established himself as one of the top DJ's in Chicago where he plays at many clubs including his residency at Spybar where he is regularly featured alongside many international guests. A sound DJ for over 10 years, Jason has played gigs in Berlin at Tresor and Sisyphos, Miami, San Francisco, and for Resolute and Blk Market in New York. The type of sound you can expect to hear in his sets is a moody hypnotic techno vibe, rich in the classic Detroit spirit. Patrickis label Klectik has seen many of its tracks garner support from many of the world's top jocks. In 2013 he held two label showcase events at Chalet in Berlin. Around this same time he made the decision to dial back the activity of the label to focus on furthering the development of his talents as a producer. This hard work that has been taking place in the studio is beginning to see the light of day with an EP being released on Kevin Saundersonis iconic KMS Records. Other releases include a remix for fellow Chicago producers Mia Wallace for Luca Doobieis Spades (Italy), an EP for Gynoid Audio (Australia) that will feature remixes from DJ Hyperactive and Mattias Fridell as well as a debut on Belgian label CZ. Klectik Records will also see its release activity increase with several EPis slated for release soon including releases from Vladw, Construct, Mantas Steles, as well as a solo EP from Patrick.
Jason's Spherical delivers a solid techno workout that features super tight drums and intricate percussion patterns. The track lures you in with distant FX and a subtle bass that offers just enough low end to get you hooked. The drums are truly hypnotic and you'll soon find yourself on the floor and getting down to this solid groover. Optimo gets right to the point from get go as punchy kick drums lead the way against a backdrop of shuffling hats and a deep rumbling bassline that sits beautifully perched on the lower frequency. Cool synth FX fade in and captivate with their hypnotic prowess. Brighter synths come through later on to drive the track home making this a definite must have in any set.
