Axkan - Deception (CZ)

Axkan debuts on CZ with the fantastic Deception which comes backed up with two superb remixes from Van Czar & Abib Djinn and J Garrett. No stranger to the Techno scene, Axkan is a talented producer based out of Los Angeles. His Techno is highly influenced by Industrial and EBM alongside ethnic rhythms. His darker and noisy style of Techno is a highly sought out sound and can be found on several labels including The Cast Project, Reloading Records, SecreTechno, Rheostatus, From 0-1, GBB, Aerotek, Format Recordings and Switch Off among others. He is without question one of the most brilliant rapid rising stars on the West Coast techno scene. His live sets are perking up ears from all over the country, devastating dancefloors from Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and beyond. There are people who make techno, and play techno live, but there are few masters of their machines who know how to put them to effective use when in front of an audience and thatís where Axkan shines.

First up we have Deception 1.0 which oozes sonic vibes of the mega flavour. Chunky beats lead the way as sharp and snappy percussions layer up to the backdrop of a stuttering, gritty bass. Electrified sounds sweep across adding textured layers with an experimental twist. Brilliantly manipulated sIne waves create havoc resulting in a stomping techno slice that is not to be missed.

Label head honcho Van Czar joins forces with CZ regular Abib Djinn for their Shooters Remix of Deception 1.0 and the guys turn up the heat to epic dark techno levels. Right from the off you're locked in as those powerful pumping kick drums get going to be joined with intricate percussion patterns. A deep underlying sub bass rocks the groove as the drums take over in a frenzied onslaught. Top notch stuff.

Vancouver based producer JGarrett aka Josh Garrett is up next on the remix for Deception 1.0 and marks his CZ debut also. He has been performing techno live since 1995. His earliest performances were at the now long closed and legendary Zootís Coffeehouse in Detroitís Cass Corridor. In 2012 Josh started the Subspec Music imprint and focused most of his efforts on his JGarrett project, sharpening the harder edged, Detroit influenced techno and acid sounds heíd explored in previous projects. Here he puts his learned experience into a full on techno monster of a remix. Pounding beats and retro style synths are the order of the day as the track takes us by the scruff and forces you to move. A solid drum section keeps things moving while the harder edged elements do their thing. A definite must have for sure.

Deception 2.0 intros with swirling FX that twists and turns into a wonderfully modulated sequence of sounds that eat right into your brain. A cacophony of sound is unleashed complete with white noise and filtered oscillators. Out the melee a pulsing bass sound emerges before being eaten up by the squelchy blippy synths. A serious slice of industrialised techno that will not disappoint.
