What does it mean to mourn, in the Beatitudes of the Bible? It cannot mean to grieve for the loss of a loved one, this is not the exclusive experience of disciples. The mourning that Jesus Christ speaks about must be pointing us towards a deeper meaning. This mourning is grief over our spiritual poverty. Mourning over the fact that we have nothing to give God!
