John 11:55 – 12:50 (Recorded bible reading is from 12:1 – 12: 26). Sacrificing for people is a way of life. We grow up in homes where our parents sacrifice and as young children we are taught to share, which is a form of sacrifice. In school and varsity, we learn to give up things like social life and hobbies to get work done. When we work, get married and have kids, this theme doesn’t stop and likely won’t until we leave this earth.
The bible also calls us to give up things and in Gareth’s sermon, we see that what Jesus calls us to give up is highly challenging. Through 3 different encounters Jesus has, we will look at the challenge of sacrifice and ask ourselves if we are willing to sacrifice in the way Jesus challenges us to.
