Description

Galatians 4: 1-7. With Christmas being celebrated just a few weeks’ ago, the miraculous birth of Christ and what it means for all of us should still be fresh in our minds – but if not, this passage is a great reminder of the doctrine of adoption and what it means to be a ‘child of God’.

In this sermon, Martin reminds us what an amazing privilege it is to be adopted into God’s family. At the same time, he also emphasises what kind of life we can expect to live outside of Christ – a life of bondage and slavery. There are several different kinds of slavery – with two mentioned in this passage that are just as relevant in our lives today as they would have been when Paul wrote this letter to the Galatians.

He also poses and important, yet simple question we can ask ourselves if we want to know whether we’re truly Christians.
