2 Corinthians 8: 1-9. We are living in tough times, so the result is we spend a great deal of time thinking about money. But, even though the subject is never far from our thoughts, we still tend to get really awkward when it comes to actually talking about money, especially within the church. Why is this the case?
Despite our discomfort when it comes to discussing money matters, it’s a topic that Jesus never shied away from. The bible has a lot to say about money and possessions – in fact, Jesus spoke more about this than faith and prayer combined. The reason is because Jesus knew that it’s impossible to enthrone the true God unless you dethrone alternative “gods”.
In this sermon, Martin explains why our attitude to money is an “acid test” for our love for God and unpacks the reasons why it’s so important to be generous and remove the vice grip materialism can have on our lives.
