Exodus 20:14 and Matthew 5: 27 - 30: Abiding by the commandment: “You shall not commit adultery” may seem like a simple feat on the surface; that is until we dig a little deeper into what God considers to fall within the gamut of ‘adultery’.
In fact, in Matthew 5: 27-30, we see that adultery refers to all sexual immorality – and not just our actions, but our thoughts as well. Through the extreme metaphorical language used in these verses, Jesus exposes the root of the sin and urges us to be mindful of what we welcome into our lives as it could be the source of immense brokenness down the road.
During this sermon, Martin explains why this commandment has been put in place for our protection. He also helps us to understand why the covenant of marriage is something that God sought to protect, and how it points to a far greater union still to come in heaven.
