Exodus 20:4 and Mark 10: 17 – 27. What is our attitude to exclusive commitment? At best, we tend to view faithfulness with a hint of scepticism and at worst, with overt rejection. But in the First Commandment, God is clear: He requires our total commitment and total devotion.
In this sermon, Roydon Frost explores the topic of faithfulness and considers what the First Commandment looks like for us today. Through the example in Mark 10 of the young man who was trying to find salvation in his own actions, we can learn how to identify the idols that compete with God for the affection of our hearts. He also explores how we can defeat other ‘gods’ by turning to an infinitely greater source of power – and in doing so, experience true freedom, security and peace.
