Exodus 20:13 - What would you do if you were told that there was a murderer in your midst? While on the surface, the sixth commandment: “You shall not murder” may seem simple when taken merely on face value, but the reality is that in Matthew 5, Jesus makes it clear who is liable for murder, and it’s not who we may think it is.
It’s not just he who kills, but anyone who gets angry at their brother or insults another. It’s not just the deed, but our words and thoughts. The reality is that there is a murderer in our midst – and it’s ourselves and the penalty of this sin is extreme.
The good news is that Jesus offers us a way out and an antidote to our anger: forgiveness and reconciliation. In this sermon, Roydon explains how God, through Christ, shares the power of His love which can overcome all anger and hatred.
