John 3:16. In a typical marriage proposal there is a lot of focus on the ring – and one of the reasons for this is everything it symbolizes. The engagement ring is an exclusive invitation, a visual demonstration of the man’s love for the woman, as well as a reminder of his commitment to her.
In John 3:16, we see God’s proposal to the whole world – the greatest proposal of all. In this sermon, Blaque explains that there are some big differences between this and a typical marriage proposal though, in terms of what we’ve done to deserve God’s proposal, who it’s for and how long this commitment will last.
Ultimately, we’re left with a choice: as the God of the universe is on bended knee and proposing to us, what will we say in response?
