Just like we may mistake a diamond for a worthless stone because we do not have the eyes to seek out or value a precious diamond, we learn from history that the family of Guru Ram Das Ji did not see the value of them. Guru Amar Das Ji saw the value of Guru Ram Das Ji and subsequently uplifted them so much, they made them the Guru!
There is a hidden diamond of Vaheguru Ji within us. Find it by connecting to the true Guru, and by having your Haumai (ego) removed, truly connect to your core, which is Vaheguru Ji (God), the supreme soul.
ਹੀਰਾ ਲਾਲੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਾਹਕ ਮੀਕਾ ਕਾਖਾ ॥
A jewel or a diamond may be very valuable and heavy, but without a purchaser, it is worth only straw.
ਰਤਨ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਤਬ ਰਤਨੁ ਬਿਕਾਨੋ ਲਾਖਾ ॥੧॥
When the Holy Guru, the purchaser, saw this jewel, He purchased it for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
