Description

In this interview with fellow mediator Joanna Kalowski, we discuss how to help people get unstuck, especially in times of conflict and crisis and find hope for the future.

Joanna is a mediator, facilitator and judicial educator with a background in teaching, adult education and government. She led the Community Education team at the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board and is a past member of both the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the National Native Title Tribunal.

Australian-born daughter of German Jewish refugees, Jo brings her interest in identity formation and cross-cultural communication to the work she does in Australia and Europe. She is fascinated by the idea that identity is formed not only by the family and culture of origin, but also by the conditions and policies of the receiving societies in which migrants and refugees find themselves.

Jo is a mother and grandmother, a fluent speaker of four languages and believes endless curiosity is the finest tool in the cross-cultural kit.
