For Catherine M Thompson Song Project: Cool Cat, her second release, Catherine teams up once more with world renowned producer Chris Birkett as she did on her first EP, Celtic Cat.
Cool Cat, an outstanding collection of seven original tunes within the jazz spectrum, tells love stories ranging from lust at first sight to the misty memories of a love long lost.
The first single, "Swing Daddy", is the story of her father playing upright bass in a 1930’s swing band, and of how her family came to be. The "Swing Daddy" video includes photos of her father with the band and dance programs from the halls that dotted the shores of The Great Lakes. Dance halls that her mother loved and where she first caught a glimpse of her future husband on stage.
Among the highlights on Cool Cat is "Closer To The Truth", Catherine's duet with her producer, Chris Birkett. Catherine could have said, "Working with Chris is the bees knees!" Instead she says, “Working with Chris as producer, arranger, and artist is wonderful!”
On Cool Cat, Catherine is accompanied by an A list of players: Allister Bradley, keyboards (co-writer for "Lie To Me or Leave Me"), as well as the Jazz Money trio: Jared Goldman, drums; Malcolm Conner, upright bass; Chris Weatherstone, saxophone. Special guests are Chris Birkett, Mike Eckert, Jeremy Edwardes, Nathan Hiltz, Shannon Rozsell, Erin Norah Thompson.
