About CAP Selects
Season 6 of CAP Selects is a weekly series showcasing the exceptional work of our Creative Audio Production & Sound Engineering students. During the second-year of study, students are tasked with writing a five-track album from scratch that realises a creative vision. An opportunity to explore any idea they choose – the only limitations to this brief is that one of the tracks must be collaborative and another must be covers or reinterpretations of original work.
This week is static's la tête dans les parages. Here’s what static said about the project:
this album explores themes of melancholy and apprehension toward the future through a wide spectrum of musical styles. conceived in parallel with a research paper, the album serves both as a practical application of its findings and as a critique of genre conformity within the contemporary music industry. rather than positioning itself within a clearly defined genre, la tête dans les parages deliberately navigates between contrasting musical idioms, challenging the assumption that stylistic homogeneity is a prerequisite for artistic coherence.
