Episode 107 - The Numbers Of The Beast
Apophenia. It might not be a word you are familiar with, but you may have experienced the phenomenon at some point. It's the tendency to mistakenly perceive connections and meaning between unrelated things. Maybe you notice that whenever it rains, the numbers on your digital clock always seem to add up to the number 11, or maybe you see faces looking back at you every time you look at the woodgrain patterns on the walls of your parents house. It can make you feel like a crazy person, or on occasion, it can make you feel like you have a better understanding of the preternatural things that may be going on around us at all times.
This week, to continue celebrating the birth month of the Beast from the East, Stephen King, we decided to run the numbers a little bit, and see if we could find any patterns, since King himself is no stranger to the scrutinizing eyes of apopheniacs the world over.
Here's a little spoiler. We did find a pretty major pattern. We found that if we drink 312 Urban Wheat from Goose Island, and watch Stephen King movies, we always seem to have a good time. Weird.
