Episode 71 - Don't Be A Square - A Cube Retrospective

What we’re about to tell you is a universal truth. The powers that be will spend years trying to convince you otherwise, but the simple fact remains that math.... is indeed.... stupid and pointless. I can remember asking the same question time and time again.
“When am I ever gonna to need to know this?”
“Well, if you want to become a physicist, or an engineer, or even an architect this will come in handy.”
To which I would reply, “Mrs. Howard, I just woke up from a 40 minute nap during your lecture, and decided to see what the lead from my mechanical pencil tastes like. I think it’s safe to say that my future will be relatively math free.”
Of course there are exceptions. Should I ever find myself in a seemingly endless grid of constantly shifting cuboidal rooms fitted with nightmarish booby traps, and my only hope of survival hinges on solving a series of complex algebraic equations, my guess is I will wish that I had paid a little more attention.
This week we decided to discuss the only time that we could think of that math would come in even remotely handy. We grabbed some M-43 N.E. IPA from Old Nation Brewing, and discussed the Cube Trilogy. E=MC(scared)!

FILMS WE DISCUSSED
CUBE (1997)
CUBE 2: HYPERCUBE (2002)
CUBE ZERO: (2004)
