Episode 76 - Crimson & Clover - - A Cloverfield Retrospective
The Universe, man. It’s a crazy place. A seemingly endless, cold, black vacancy. Unimaginably violent yet fabulously serene. A harsh wasteland where, against seemingly insurmountable odds, small pockets of life flourish, and that life, much like the universe itself, is ever-evolving and growing. Life that has created the automobile, mapped DNA, built towering monuments to human ingenuity in shining metropolises, and traveled outside of its atmosphere to try and touch the stars. Life that has ripped a hole through space and time itself, creating cataclysmic head on collisions with alternate realities, releasing world-destroying abominations, and changing the course of history as they know it. Wait... that last part might not sound quite as familiar. That’s because the universe in question, born in the spinning vortex mind of J.J. Abrams, is in fact the Cloverfield Universe. We like to think that in that universe we are still three dudes with a podcast, but we have way better hair, and really sweet leather jackets. Man, those guys sound awesome. Anyway, this week grabbed a couple bombers of Space Drop from Short’s Brewing, and delved into the twisting, turning, back-peddling, sidestepping universe of the Cloverfield movies.
