If you're a fan of the kind of grainy, off-kilter house championed by labels like L.I.E.S., Proibito or Lobster Theremin, you need to get familiar with the work of Logatec's finest, Christian Kroupa. The Slovenian producer and 2014 Academy alum is currently gearing up to release an EP on S Olbricht's dependably formidable @farbwechsel label, and will make his debut at Sónar Festival in Barcelona on the RBMA SonarDôme stage shortly after.
"Pick Up Your Needle", which we're excited to premiere here, is a non-EP cut that Christian sent through to us recently. It's a playful and driving track, built around a musty kick drum and reverb-drenched vocal samples. Focussing on a small number of elements, yet retaining an air of mystique throughout the course of its 7 minutes, "Pick Up Your Needle" is a promising sign of great things to come for the young producer.
