At the Academy, we're always excited to hear about new material from French-born musical wayfarer @debruit. The 2008 RBMA alum has a knack for constantly finding ways to rethink his sound, staying true to his passion for sonic exploration. This June, Débruit returns with a solo LP, 'Outside The Line', on his own, new ICI label.
Ahead of the release, we're proud to present this track from the album. The dubby disco throb of "Shock" almost feels suspended in time. Its bass line harkens back to the '80s New York underground stylings of ESG, while the hypnotic synth hook can be understood equally as a nod to west African musical tradition and as a fanfare to distant, outer space future.
