Adrián de Alfonso, AKA Don the Tiger, pens songs that shift viewpoints and flip expectations through sly utterances. His description of “La Línea toda” reads as follows, “On whaling and doomed relationships. At La Línea de la Concepción, whales can often be spotted from the strand.” This mysterious duality casts shade on exactly where the doom is lurking but when the murky melody emerges it’s clear there’s something curious in the atmosphere. Don the Tiger’s new album Matanzas, brims with dramatic undertones that crawl on whispered tones and sinuous, sonic textures. Alfonso’s co-producer Lucrecia Dalt helped weave the mesmerizing net, a snare ensuring we’ll all end up spellbound in the tiger’s belly. “La Línea toda” premiered on Open End, Frosty’s weekly Red Bull Radio whirl through otherworldly, international sound. Matanzas is out October 19th on Crammed Discs. Pre-order here: https://donthetiger.bandcamp.com/album/matanzas
