Dyad is the solo project of Evgeny Gavrilov, a native of Novosibirsk City, Russia and an alumni of the 2008 Academy in Barcelona. Despite the frigid temperatures his homeland is known for, Dyad’s music remains naturally sunny, with occasional vocals and other melodic elements able to crack the clouds. “Coleoptera,” taken from Dyad’s new LP called 'Sleepers Club' and debuting here, is no different, recalling James Holden in the way its shivering arpeggio races alongside and eventually overcomes a barrage of claps and other off-kilter percussion. The entire track feels like a perfectly polished roller coaster, making complex loops and turns in style without once slowing down.
