GPU Panic AKA UhAhUh is Lisbon-based multi-instrumentalist Guilherme Tomé Ribeiro, a prolific producer across multiple genres and an alumni of the 2016 Red Bull Music Academy Montréal. GPU Panic represents Ribeiro’s more electronic side – “exploring the the world as a electronic and constantly evolving place,” in Ribeiro’s own words – and “Melting Haze” is a fizzy, lo-fi jam with a musicality that reflects his psychedelic rock background. The first taste we get of GPU Panic’s upcoming ‘Sand Haze’ EP, “Melting Haze” gradually layers airy voices on top of a bulging bassline and swells of probing guitar. It takes an abrupt turn skywards at the continued insistence of bitcrushed synths, all while the jumps and backpedals of basic percussion continue to support the twitchy melodic movements.
